Effect of Barometric Pressure Fluctuations on Gas Transport over Soil Surfaces

چکیده

Molar diffusion mechanism is generally considered to be the main physical process of gas transport at soil–atmosphere interface. However, advection in porous medium can considerably affect soil transport. Barometric pressure fluctuations caused by pumps one factors that affects mechanism. Most existing studies are overly focused on construction complex mathematical models and cannot exclude other environmental from interfering. In present study, a simple attenuation form barometric was explored as “minimum unit” wave laboratory. A model (PAM) developed verify relationship between difference emission surface measuring change attenuation. The effect fluxes then quantified based calculated fluxes. addition, properties also analyzed. results show air cause CO2 an order magnitude (change 1 Pa result approximately 100% flux for sandy loam). sensitivity different differences positively correlated with permeability, which property influences response fluctuations. These provide important prerequisites quantifying more future study.

barometric pressure cycles

Barometric pressure changes can induce airflow in an open borehole or well screened in the vadose zone, thereby ventilating the soil surrounding the borehole. This paper presents an analytic model of the induced airflow and compares the predictions of the model with experimental measurements. This model may be useful for the design of passive soil vapor extraction as applied to the remediation ...

The effect of ambient temperature and barometric pressure on ambulatory blood pressure variability.

BACKGROUND The effect of ambient temperature on cardiovascular disease has previously been studied. Less known are the effects of climate on blood pressure (BP) regulation, specifically, the role of temperature on BP variability. METHODS We investigated the effect of temperature and barometric pressure on ambulatory BP variability in 333 men and women with above-optimal BP or stage 1 hyperten...

Stochastic inversion of pneumatic cross-hole tests and barometric pressure fluctuations in heterogeneous unsaturated formations

The distributions of permeability and porosity are key factors that control airflow and gas phase transport in unsaturated formations. To understand the behavior of flow and transport in such formations, characterization procedure is a typical approach that has been widely applied to laboratories and fields. As is recognized by most investigations, this approach relies on accurate measurements,...

Effect of Water Table Fluctuation on Barometric Pumping in Soil Unsaturated Zone

An analytical one-dimensional model for vertical transmission of barometric pressure in soil unsaturated zone has been developed to examine the effect of free boundary caused by water table. The model is applicable to a special case in which the water table moves in according to the pressure with high barometric efficiency. Ambient sinusoidal pressure fluctuation is assumed at the soil surface....
